PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate door operation device being easy to maintain and having high availability, and a gate door operation method.SOLUTION: A gate door operation device includes an antenna, a satellite communication control section, a storage battery device and a relay. The antenna performs communication with a communication satellite. The satellite communication control section controls communication related to opening/closing operation of a gate door based on emergency information with high urgency via the communication satellite. The relay switches connection from commercial power supply to the storage battery device and supplies electric power to the antenna and the satellite communication control section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
