PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brace material which saves space, which is light and which has excellent workability.SOLUTION: A brace material 1 includes: a plurality of wire rods 2; a connection member 3 connected to end parts of the plurality of wire rods 2 and for putting the plurality of wire rods 2 together and mounting them at a predetermined place; and a stiffener 4 for stiffening buckling of the wire rods 2 with respect to a compression action by covering the periphery of the plurality of wire rods 2. The brace material exhibits hysteresis camping characteristics by a tensile force and a compression force acting on the plurality of wire rods 2. The stiffener 4 is made of, for example, a concrete block having a plurality of through-holes 4a for inserting each wire rod 2 of the plurality of wire rods 2. The connection member is made of, for example, a member having a plurality of through-holes 31a for inserting the end part of each wire rod 2 of the plurality of wire rods 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
