To provide a slide door opening and closing device capable of opening and closing an electric slide door without need of an operation by hand, without touching a vehicle or a portable machine and without malfunction.SOLUTION: A slide door opening and closing device for opening and closing an electric slide door 6 of a vehicle is provided that comprises action detection means 22 for detecting a defined action of a user standing in the vicinity of the slide door and opening and closing control means for driving the slide door in an opening direction and a closing direction on the basis of the verification of the defined action by the action detection means. The defined action in driving the slide door in the opening direction is the action for moving a toe of the user.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
