To provide a sanitary earthenware excellent in texture and excellent in cleaning properties, the sanitary earthenware including a mat-tone glaze layer.SOLUTION: A sanitary earthenware includes an earthenware body 80 and a glaze layer 10 on a surface, wherein: in the glaze layer, when a cross section in a region from a surface of the glaze layer to the depth of 10 μm is observed by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), an area at a portion observed as particles having an average biaxial diameter of 1 μm or more accounts for less than 6% of an area of the region, or the portion observed as the particles does not exist; 60° glossiness of the surface thereof is 18 or more and less than 50; and When Rz and Rsk which are specified according to JIS B0601 (2001) is measured based on the conditions specified by JIS B0633 (2001), 1.44 μm≤Rz<2.37 μm and -1.14
【課題】質感に優れたかつ清掃性にも優れたマット調の釉薬層を備えた衛生陶器の提供。【解決手段】陶器素地８０と、表面に釉薬層１０とを備えてなる衛生陶器であって、前記釉薬層が、当該釉薬層の表面から１０μｍの深さまでの領域の断面を走査型電子顕微鏡（ＳＥＭ）により観察したときに、二軸平均径が１μｍ以上である粒子として観察される箇所の面積が、当該領域の面積に対して６％未満の割合か、または粒子として観察される箇所が存在しないものであり、前記表面の６０°光沢度が１８以上５０未満であり、ＪＩＳ Ｂ０６０１（２００１）で規定されるＲｚおよびＲｓｋが、ＪＩＳ Ｂ０６３３（２００１）で規定された条件で測定したとき、１．４４μｍ≦Ｒｚ＜２．３７μｍ、−１．１４＜Ｒｓｋ＜０．１７である衛生陶器は、優れたマット調でありながら、その清掃性にも優れる。【選択図】図１
