ELECTRIC HEATING TYPE CARRIER AND EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION DEVICE
To provide an electric heating type carrier and an exhaust gas purification device capable of satisfactorily suppressing an increase in resistance due to damage to an electrode layer and deterioration of the electrode layer during energization heating.SOLUTION: There is provided an electric heating type carrier including: a columnar honeycomb structure comprising an outer peripheral wall and a porous partition wall that is arranged inside the outer peripheral wall and partitioning the inside space to form a plurality of cells that penetrate from one end face to the other end face so as to form a flow path; a pair of electrode layers arranged on the outer peripheral wall of the columnar honeycomb structure in a manner to face each other with interposed the central axis of the columnar honeycomb structure; a honeycomb structure having a protective layer covering the electrode layers in a manner where at least one part of the electrode layers is exposed; and a pair of metal terminals provided on the pair of electrode layers. The electrode layers are made of metal-ceramics mixed material and the part exposed from the protective layer of the electrode layers is electrically connected to the metal terminals.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
