To effectively suppress swing in a small earthquake, in a middle earthquake and in a wind load, in addition to energy absorption in an earthquake.SOLUTION: A wood structure includes: a wood frame having a pair of wood cross members opposing to each other and a pair of wood vertical members opposing to each other; a surface material provided in a structure plane surrounded by the pair of wood cross members and the pair of wood vertical members; and a damping member provided between at least one of the pair of wood cross members and the surface material, the damping member that has primary rigidity to the load less than a predetermined value and has the secondary rigidity lower than the primary rigidity to the load being equal to or more than the predetermined value. When the pair of wood cross members are relatively displaced by the horizontal external force, gaps are provided between the pair of wood vertical members and the surface material so that the pair of wood vertical members may not come in contact with each surface material, respectively.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
