To provide a hood lock device that is superior in durability.SOLUTION: The hood lock device comprises: a base plate 2 with a striker groove 22; a primary latch 3 that keeps a hood in a fully closed state; and a secondary latch 5 that keeps the hood in a half open state. The secondary latch 5 has a steel latch body and a resin handle. The latch body includes: a forced engagement section that engages with a striker S moving to the fully closed position across the half open position when a hook section that locks the striker S retracts from the striker groove 22, and that is pressed by the striker S in a latch direction opposite to an unlatch direction; and an attachment section that is provided next to the forced engagement section and to which a handle is attached.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
