To provide an electrolytic protection structure and an electrolytic protection method that are useful for electrolytic protection around a gap in a plurality of structures that are installed having the gap, and exhibit stable electrolytic protection effect for a long time.SOLUTION: The present invention provides an electrolytic protection structure 1A. When a plurality of structures 51,51, including a concrete structure 51 with a metal material 61 buried inside, are disposed opposite each other with a gap 60 therebetween, the electrolytic protection structure is disposed in the gap 60 and is used for the electrolytic protection of the metal material 61. The electrolytic protection structure 1A has an electrode layer 2 electrically connected to the metal material 61, and a water-holding layer 3. It also has an elasticity of expanding and contracting in a gap direction 60X of the gap 60 according to a change in the length of the gap direction 60X.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
