To provide: a steel impermeable wall having highly reliable water impermeability even when installed in a ground having an aerial part or a ground in which the aerial part sinks below the water surface; and an impermeable method of steel impermeable wall.SOLUTION: A steel impermeable wall 1 according to the present invention comprises a steel wall 11 which is installed in a ground 3 where a lower ground 3a is at or below the water surface and an upper ground 3b is above the water surface, and which steel wall comprises multiple joint-attached steel members 9 each constructed with a swellable water-impervious material 7 applied to a joint fitting portion 5, are jointly fitted to each other. The impermeable wall further comprises one or more water-impervious material filling portions 13 provided so as to be in contact with one side surface or both side surfaces of the steel wall 11 in the vicinity of at least the joint fitting portions 5 in the upper ground 3b.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
