To provide a sample collecting device that can surely collect a desired amount of sample in a desired position under the ground.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a sample collecting device 1 for collecting a sample from an excavation hole extending vertically in the ground. The device includes: a cylindrical sample-side container part 2 capable of containing the sample by having an introduction port 21 which is opened in a lower end of the container part in an axial direction to introduce the sample; a plug part 3 capable of closing the introduction port 21 from the inside of the sample-side container part 2; a shaft part 40 having the plug part 3 on the tip, the shaft part extending in the axial direction in the sample-side container part 2; and a driving unit 41 located in an upstream side of the sample-side container 2, the driving part 41 moving the plug part 3 in the axial direction of the sample-side container part 2 by the shaft part 40 and opening or closing the introduction port 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
