To provide a method for producing an artificial sand, capable of producing the artificial sand capable of reducing acid consumption.SOLUTION: A method for producing artificial sand includes: mixing an MgO-based refractory raw material with an Al2O3-SiO2-based refractory raw material, so that based on the total sum of these raw materials, a content ratio of Al2O3 is 60 mass% or more and 85 mass% or less, a content ratio of MgO is 5 mass% or more and 35 mass% or less, and a content ratio of SiO2 is more than 0 mass% and 10 mass% or less; pulverizing the mixture of MgO-based refractory raw material particles and Al2O3-SiO2-based refractory raw material particles, so that an average primary particle diameter of the mixture is 50 μm or less; subjecting the mixture to pelleting and then to sintering.SELECTED DRAWING: None
