To provide a concealed type electric door closer with good aesthetics and operability.SOLUTION: An electric door closer attached to a door or an upper frame includes: a main body 1 accommodated in an accommodation recess portion provided on the door or the upper frame; and a mounting plate 2 for mounting the main body 1 to the door or the upper frame. The main body 1 includes: a main shaft 10 rotating along with opening and closing of the door and including a first end portion 10a where an arm is mounted; a motor 11 for driving the main shaft 10; and a control portion for controlling the motor 11 and including an operation portion operated from outside. The operation potion is disposed toward the first end portion 10a side of the main shaft 10. The mounting plate 2 is located on the first end portion 10a side of the main shaft 10 with respect to the main body 1, and includes an opening portion 42 for exposing the operation portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
