To provide a method for producing a porous sintered ceramic having both of high porosity and high strength without using hole-forming materials.SOLUTION: A method for producing a porous sintered ceramic includes the steps of molding ceramic powder with a heavy bulk density of 1.0 g/cm3 or less to give a ceramic article; forming a carbon powder-containing layer on the surface of the ceramic article to give a laminate; and irradiating the surface of the carbon powder-containing layer of the laminate with laser to form a porous sintered ceramic part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
