To provide a cord weight for a shielding device that suppresses an unintentional disengagement of an endless operating cord and has an excellent aesthetic appearance.SOLUTION: A cord weight 10 of the present invention, which is configured as a cord-shaped weight for adding a load to an endless operating cord that hangs down to open and close shielding members of a shielding device, includes a pulley 13 on which the operation cord 5 is hung and a cord weight body (11, 12, 14) that rotatably supports the pulley 13 to apply a load to the operation cord 5. At least one of the front and rear side walls of said cord weight body has an opening 10A that allows insertion and removal of the pulley 13. At the upper end of the cord weight body, a slit 10C is formed in conjunction with an aperture 10A, through which the operation cord 5 can be inserted. The pulley 13 is supported in the body of the cord weight in such a way that the pulley can be inserted and removed from the aperture 10A with the operation cord 5 still attached, but not from the vertical direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
