To provide an excellent rail chamfering device capable of self-support traveling, capable of easily performing setup work to a rail self-standing on the rail so as to travel, and capable of easily polishing the rail by stably traveling in a self-supporting state.SOLUTION: In a self-supporting travelable rail chamfering device, a rail traveling base body 3 which is provided with a chamfering device 5 for chamfering the surface of a railroad rail 1 is provided with front and rear holding rollers 2 for clamping the rail 1 from the right and left, and a head top surface grounding roller 6 is provided between the holding rollers 2, when the head top surface grounding roller 6 is brought into contact with the top surface of the rail 1 from above and the dead weight of the machine body is applied, the holding roller 2 is interlocking moved to be brought into pressure contact with the rail 1 from the side to hold the rail, so that the rail chamfering device can travel in a self-standing state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
