To provide a method for detecting the condition of a work vehicle to control exhaust temperature.SOLUTION: A method for determining the condition of a work vehicle comprises detecting a rotational speed of an engine of the work vehicle during a predetermined time period, determining a maximum rotation speed that is the maximum value of the rotation speed in the time period and a minimum rotation speed that is the minimum value of the rotation speed in the time period, determining a parameter representing a fuel injection amount of the engine during the time period, determining an amount of variation that is the difference between the maximum value of the parameter in the time period and the minimum value of the parameter in the time period, determining that the work vehicle is in an operating state when the difference between the maximum rotation speed and the minimum rotation speed exceeds a rotation speed threshold or the amount of variation exceeds a variation amount threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
