METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING POROUS CERAMIC BODY AND POROUS CERAMIC INTERMEDIATE BODY
To provide a method for manufacturing a porous ceramic body, capable of manufacturing the porous ceramic body with high yield, and to provide a porous ceramic intermediate body.SOLUTION: An operator first performs a paper-making process in which organic fibers are strained from a raw material solution containing the organic fibers to form a ceramic paper 200. In this case, the raw material solution contains a thermoplastic material that softens or melts when heat is applied and solidifies when temperature is lowered. Next, the operator applies heat and pressure to the ceramic paper 200 and presses it to perform a planarization process. Next, the operator conducts an intermediate body-forming step for applying heat and pressure to a laminate of ceramic papers 200 to soften the thermoplastic material to obtain a porous ceramic intermediate body 300, in which the ceramic papers 200 adjacent to each other are bonded together. Next, the operator conducts a firing step for firing the porous ceramic intermediate body 300 to obtain a porous ceramic body 100.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
