The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for producing a porous ceramic body and a porous ceramic intermediate which can be produced with good yield. [Solution] An operator first performs a paper-making step in which organic fibers are filtered from a raw material solution containing the organic fibers and ceramic paper (200) is made. In this case, the raw material liquid contains a thermoplastic material that is softened or melted by heating and that cures due to a decrease in temperature. Next, an operator applies heat and pressure to the ceramic paper (200) to press the ceramic paper (200), and performs a flattening step. Next, the operator performs an intermediate forming step for softening the thermoplastic material by heating and pressurizing the laminated product obtained by laminating the ceramic paper (200), thereby obtaining a porous ceramic intermediate (300) in which adjacent ceramic paper (200) are joined to each other. Next, an operator performs a sintering step for sintering the porous ceramic intermediate (300) to obtain a porous ceramic body (100).
