To provide a high temperature heat insulation material having excellent adiabaticity even in a high temperature region of 600°C or higher.SOLUTION: A high temperature heat insulation material is a molding containing: a base material made of an entangled aggregate of silica-based inorganic fibers having hydroxyl groups; and a silica cured material that exists at a surface layer of at least one side of the base material so as to adhere to the surface of the silica-based inorganic fibers or fill or crosslink the inter-fiber gaps of the silica-based fibers. The silica cured material is a dry solidified product of colloidal silica having an average particle size of 1 to 200 nm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
