To provide a rail tread surface measuring device that is flexible and can provide digital data of quantified positions or shapes of uneven parts of a rail.SOLUTION: A rail tread surface measuring device provides digital data of quantified positions or shapes of uneven parts of a rail. The device samples waveform data which continuously shows the height position of the surface of a rail in a measurement section on the basis of a straight line which connects a point of start and an end point of the measurement section along the rail and acquires number data of the displacement of the height position with respect to the straight line in each position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
