To provide a copper ceramic conjugate having high joint strength.SOLUTION: A copper ceramic conjugate includes a copper material comprising Cu or a Cu alloy, a ceramic material joined to the copper material and comprising a nitride of Si or Al, and a joint layer which is formed in a joint area of the copper material and the ceramic material, includes Cu and Mg, and further includes at least one active metal element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Ca, Y, Ce, La, Sm, Yb, Nd, Gd, and Er, wherein the shear strength of the joint layer is 10 MPa or over.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
