To provide a thickener composition for a hydraulic composition which increases viscosity of a hydraulic composition slurry after preparation and increases a breathing rate, and a hydraulic composition which has a high viscosity of a slurry after preparation and a high breathing rate.SOLUTION: A thickener composition for a hydraulic composition comprises: (a) an alkylnaphthalene sulfonic acid having two or more carbons in an alkyl group, or a salt thereof; and (b) one or more selected from an amphoteric surfactant and a cationic surfactant.SELECTED DRAWING: None
