To provide a method for preventing damage to an existing pipe and more reliably forming a rehabilitation pipe, and a reinforcement plate therefor.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for rehabilitating an existing pipe 1 having a reinforcement plate installation process of fixing a reinforcement plate 3 to an inner wall surface of the existing pipe 1 provided underground, a rehabilitation pipe formation process of forming a rehabilitation pipe 2 inside the existing pipe 1, and a flotation preventive column installation step. In the method for rehabilitating the existing pipe of the present invention, the reinforcement plate 3 may be installed at a position where one end of a flotation preventive column 5 penetrating the rehabilitation pipe 2 is placed against the existing pipe 1. Furthermore, in the method for rehabilitating the existing pipe of the present invention, the reinforcement plate 3 may be arranged to conform to a shape of the inner wall surface of the existing pipe 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
