The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing potteries which is characterized in that: a layer is formed on the surface of a sintered body; the sintered body contains 60 to 92% by mass of ZnO, 4 to 23% by mass of SiO_2, and 2 to 19% by mass of Al_2O_3 with respect to whole components; the total mixing ratio of respective components with respect to the whole components is 98% by mass or more; and the sintered body has an average linear expansion coefficient of 5.010^-6 to 5.510^-6/K. Since the potteries of the present invention have appropriately high thermal expansion properties, a thermal expansion difference between ceramics and glaze is very small, and it is difficult that cracks are formed in the layer in the potteries. Therefore, it is difficult that liquid such as oil generated during heating and cooking is absorbed into the potteries of the present invention, it is difficult for smell to be transferred to the potteries in the potteries of the present invention, and it is easy to clean the potteries of the present invention.
