Described herein is a key-operable lock, of the type comprising: - a stator body (2); - a rotor body (4) rotatably mounted within said stator body and provided with a passage (6) for insertion of a key for operating the lock; and - coding means for preventing rotation of said rotor body (4) with respect to said stator body (2) and for enabling, instead, said rotation when an authorised key is inserted in said passage (6). The lock is characterized in that the coding means of the lock comprise two main types of pins carried by the rotor body (4), which operate according to different modalities for defining the condition of blocking of the lock, and in that the pins in question are positioned on different points of the rotor body (4) about its ideal axis of rotation.
