Provided is an authentication system for authenticating an authentication subject who will use a piece of equipment, said system comprising: a first input acceptance unit (43) which accepts an action detected from an authentication subject as input of information for authentication; a second input acceptance unit (47) which accepts input of information for authentication which is different from the information for authentication accepted by the first input acceptance unit (43); and an authentication processing unit which authenticates the authentication subject by comparing the first input information which is inputted into the first input acceptance unit (43) with pre-registered first registration information and comparing the second input information inputted into the second input acceptance unit with pre-registered second registration information. An input acceptance area (46) of the first input acceptance unit (43) is disposed so as to not be visible on the exterior of the piece of equipment.
