Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Arretierung eines Werkzeugs (2) einer Baumaschine (1) in einer vorgegebenen Neigung. Es wird die Neigung des Werkzeugs (2) mit Hilfe eines oder mehrerer der folgenden Sensoren (6, 6') der Baumaschine (1): Inertiale Messeinheit, Winkelsensoren, Linearsensoren bestimmt. Auf Grundlage dessen erfolgt ein Regeln zumindest eines Gelenkwinkels des Werkzeugs (2) derart, dass die Neigung bezüglich einer vorgebbaren Referenz konstant gehalten wird, wenn sich die Baumaschine (1), eine Komponente der Baumaschine (1) und/oder eine mit der Baumaschine (1) und dem Werkzeug (2) verbundenen Komponente (3) bewegt.
