ROCK ANCHOR WITH IMPROVED UNDERREAMING
A cutting finger (634) for a rock anchor (600) is disclosed along with a rock anchor (600) incorporating the cutting finger (634) and a method of installation of the rock anchor (600). The cutting finger (634) comprises a linkage arrangement with a cutting surface (640) mounted on an outwardly flareable section (636) pivotably coupled to a flaring support section (642). The cutting finger (634) is pivotably couplable at its distal and proximal ends to the rock anchor (600). The installation method includes inserting the rock anchor (600) into a hole (660) bored into a substrate and flaring the cutting finger (634) while rotating the cutting finger about an anchoring axis A. This drives the cutting finger (634) into the substrate and underreams a conical cavity. This provides a secure fixation into the substrate.
