Part I of an 8-volume report presents results of Earthquake Evaluation Studies of the Auburn Dam area. This volume presents a summary and the conclusions of an independent earthquake evaluation study for the proposed Auburn Dam in California. Included in the Summary Volume are sections pertaining to the approach to earthquake evaluation studies, the methods of the study, the scope of the study, background information, a summary of conclusions, and summaries and conclusions of other supporting volumes. It was concluded that the maximum credible earthquakes for Auburn Dam should be a 6 to 6 1/2 m earthquake. (Color illustrations reproduced in black and white)
