Earthquake Evaluation Studies of the Auburn Dam Area. Volume 6. Reservoir Induced Seismicity
This volume is part of an 8-volume report prepared by independent consultants for the Bureau of Reclamation's Auburn Dam. That portion of the study described in the volume pertains to any apparent risks at the Auburn damsite for an earthquake induced by the proposed reservoir. It was concluded that the amount of available data and the level of understanding of reservoir-induced seismicity are limited. The estimation for the likelihood of reservoir-induced seismicity at the proposed dam can only be a professional judgement and is based on an understanding of seismicity in the vicinity of the damsite and probability for the August 1975 Oroville earthquake being reservoir-induced. An analysis of the 55 reported cases of reservoir-induced seismicity is presented.
