Structural Behaviour of the Moat Street Flyover, Coventry
The Moat Street flyover has a composite steel-and-concrete deck on which measurements were made of strain and temperature during construction and for about two years after construction and of the response of the bridge to a heavy vehicle load. The measurements indicated the degree of structural interaction between the deck slab and the steel girders, the effectiveness of propping the girders during construction, the changes in the behaviour of the structure during the first two years after construction, the effect of temperature changes, the transverse distribution of live-load moment and the natural frequency of the structure.
