Report on the Archeological Investigations Conducted for the Oconaluftee River Trail Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Field investigations were conducted between November 28 through December 2, 1988, by Principal Investigator Kenneth S. Wild, and Archeological Technician Tina Bassett for the Southeast Archeological Center. The investigators focused on locating and identifying cultural resources, recording site locations, and determining the associations and significance of any evidence (Wild 1988). Field methods consisted of excavating shovel tests to the same depth as trail construction. Monitoring all subsurface disturbance, and advising on design alternatives that would avoid impacts.
