Lake Capote Dam (also known as Pargin Dam) is located on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation in south-central Colorado approximately 11 miles southwest of the town of Pagose Springs. The dam was constructed in 1948, and the reservoir is used for recreation. The dam is rolled earthfill structure with a structural height of 35 feet, a crest elevation of 99.5 feet, and a crest length of 1,000 feet. The upstream face of the dam has a slope of 3:1 (H:V) and the downstream face has a slope of 2:1. The upstream face has large boulder riprap. The reservoir has a capacity of approximately 540 acre-feet with the water surface elevation at the spillway crest.
