Dulce Lake Dam was examined on August 20, 1996, in accordance with the Federal Guidelines for Dam Safety, as implemented in part 753 of the Departmental Manual. The dam was also visited on June 11, 1997 for the purpose of viewing progress regarding the new dam construction. The observations and conclusions included in this report are based on a review of available data and the field examination that took place on August 20, 1996, however the reservoir was mostly drained via a breach constructed through the spillway. The alignment of the new dam had been staked and construction of an upstream cofferdam and then construction of the new dam were to occur during the following months.
