Proposed Great Sand Dunes National Monument Wilderness, Colorado
The National Park Service, Department of the Interior, proposes that 29,255 acres of Great Sand Dunes National Monument, Colorado, be designated as Wilderness and be added to the National Wilderness Preservation System. Adverse impacts are minimal. Due to the uniqueness of this proposed wilderness and its current management policies, wilderness designation results in only minor impacts such as some research curtailment and restrictions on potential motorized access.
