A visco-elastic strain hardening creep model based on a Kelvin body coupled in series with a Hookean spring, is implemented into the finite element program GEOnac. The model is to some extent tested and is found to produce time-deformation curves of similar shape as often seen from laboratory tests on soils. Even though there is a time delay in the deformation, the deformation due to a closed load loop will after infinite time return to the state before the load was applied. This is the definition of visco-elastic behavior. Further model correlations to laboratory measured soil behavior is not done within this project. The work behind this report is performed under the subproject 'Long-term Processes in Geomaterials' of the Norwegian Research Council supported program 'Analysis of Concrete and Geomaterials'. The viscous-elastic behavior model presented in this report can mainly be used for analyzing static loads.
