A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Outlet Works, Degray Dam, Caddo River, Arkansas: Hydraulic Model Investigation
The model investigation of the single-tunnel outlet works for DeGray Dam was concerned with developing a stilling basin suitable for high diversion flows and high-energy flood-control releases. The model also provided a means for selection of intake tower design; study of pressures in the tunnel, elbow, and transition downstream of the tower; and study of a regulating gate near the tunnel outlet portal. Operating conditions will require the passage of diversion discharges up to a maximum of 28,000 cfs and flood-control releases up to a maximum of 6000 cfs. Two multiple-level intake towers were tested. The purpose of this type of intake is to provide warm water from near the reservoir surface for fish resources downstream. (Author)
