This report presents statistics on energy - related housing characteristics for the United States by inside and outside standard metropolitan statistical areas and each of the four geographic regions. Tables present these characteristics for owner - occupied and renter - occupied housing units by family or primary provider income; for owner - occupied, one - unit structures by value of property; and for renter - occupied housing units by gross rent. Energy characteristics are also presented by housing units in the structure, by number of rooms per housing unit, by the year the structure was built, and by the monthly cost paid for each utility, etc. Appendices include area classifications, definitions and explanations of subject characteristics, and facsimile of the survey questionnaire, as well as a discussion of the source and reliability of the estimates. A table finding guide and a map are also included.
