The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Bicentennial Civic Center and Related Modifications to the Comprehensive Plan for the National Capital
The proposed action is the development of a civic center in the downtown area of the District of Columbia, and related modifications to the Comprehensive Plan for the National Capital to reflect the proposed civic center development. The civic center site is comprised of 10.31 acres bounded by Eighth Street, H Street, Tenth Street, New York Avenue, and K Street. It includes the right-of-way of I Street, NW., between Eighth and Tenth Street, and the use of the air-rights over Ninth Street for the structure. The facility will provide a meeting place for regional and national conventions, trade fairs, and public admission shows. It will contain approximately 560,000 gross square feet of floor area, and will be used by approximately 925,000 persons annually. Environmental impacts and adverse effects are discussed.
