Local Flood Protection Project, Southwest Jefferson County, Kentucky
The project consists of 70,750 feet of earth levee and 1500 feet of reinforced concrete floodwall protecting about 41 square miles of Ohio River floodplain against the flood of record, and including a permanent impoundment of 810 acres, five pumping plants for internal drainage, and about 1815 acres of recreation land with facilities. A total of about 2750 acres would be acquired for the project in fee, 803 acres for flowage easement, and 580 acres for borrow. The project is located in Southwestern Jefferson County, Kentucky. Environmental impacts and adverse effects are discussed.
