Local Flood Protection Project, Southwest Jefferson County, Kentucky
The project consists of 68,500 feet of earth levee and 1500 feet of reinforced concrete flood wall protecting about 41 square miles of Ohio River floodplain against the flood of record, and including a permanent impoundment of 810 acres, five pumping plants for internal drainage, and 1420 acres of recreation land with facilities. A total of about 2000 acres would be acquired for the project in fee, 1950 acres for flowage easement, and 600 acres for borrow easements. The project is located in Southwestern Jefferson County, Kentucky. (Author)
