Deflections in Flexible Pavements
Designing bases for roads and streets, developed to show required thicknesses of pavement deflection differentials are shown to illustrate differences in deflection over comparable soils and loads for cement treated and gravel bases; principles of structural design and design premises. In design of flexible paving, elastic deformation or deflection and plastic deformation or settlement must not exceed certain specific limits, and shear stressed induced in pavement must not exceed shear resistance of system; distinction between and method for evaluating both elastic and plastic deformation; methods for estimating both systems.
