Abstract The previous chapters provided a review of the evolution of the different types of traditional homes in Serbia, within their historical and environmental context. We saw how previous authors developed various approaches to describe this architecture, and how there was continuous innovation as new ideas for constructing houses were developed. This in turn provided the groundwork for the research on this topic which forms the bulk of this book, and what will be presented in the coming chapters, starting with existing building stock.
