IOUT has the ability to transform sewer control system. It has the ability to monitor parameters like flow speed, flow rate, etc. The monitoring capabilities of IOUT, when combined with the existing Gray infrastructure (pipes and sewer systems), and communication system can advance the ongoing research efforts in attaining an autonomous sewer system. In this chapter, sewer IOUTs are developed which use underground sensor nodes to gather and communicate the information to the cloud or central server for real-time decision-making.
