The Typology of the Suspended Façade System
The typology of the suspended curtain wall is determined according to the assembly of the glass enclosure panels (tempered, laminated or double-glazed) by means of mechanically supported point fixings composed of bolts and rotulles, which are in turn connected to profiles and steel cable frames. The point fixings absorb the torsion and bending stresses transmitted by structural movements, either through the rotation of a ball rotating inside the panes or through the perimeter locking of the panes. The application of the glass sheet enclosure elements for the point-fixed façade system, which allows the configuration of completely transparent surfaces, is carried out with or without perforation. The constitution of the system is realized according to the upper main load-bearing structure, which must support the vertical loads due to the suspended modules and aggregate devices, as well as the tension related to the stabilizing cables of the beams themselves. In addition, the system is designed to absorb the action of the horizontal loads, whereby the stresses directed perpendicularly to the façade plane determine the bending loads on the modules in both the vertical and horizontal planes: in this regard, the functioning of the spherical hinge of the fixing devices allows the mobility and rotation of the modules outside of their own plane. The constitution of the main load-bearing structure, over extended heights, is provided with the bracing apparatuses, for the regulation of the loads perpendicular to the vertical plane, composed of both the stainless steel spacers, passing transversally to the main frame in tubular profiles, and the tensor cables (in ropes or stainless steel rods), executed in single, simple double specular form or with diagonal passages (in the form of a reticular structure).
