A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Developing countries are experimenting to produce building materials that utilise existing resources. Here, somewhat specialised work in the ceramics division of the National Research Centre, United Arab Republic, is presented in some detail to show how a heterogenous local clay mixed with 20 per cent lime produced bricks with reasonable mechanical strength and durability.
