The Aswan High Dam has now been operational for 20 years. An objective analysis of the impacts of the dam clearly indicates that overall they have been overwhelmingly positive for Egypt. This article reviews the positive and negative environmental impacts of the Aswan Dam based on data collected over the past two decades.
