Removal of surfactants and particulate matter from sea water desalination blowdown brines by foam fractionation
In relation to the interface-enhanced vertical tube evaporation desalination process which utilizes surfactant additives to increase evaporation rates, removal of Shell Neodol 25-3A surfactant was carried out on pilot scale. The influence of operating variables was examined and correlated in terms of models of a well-mixed single stage and a countercurrent column with back-mixing. Surfactant recovery for recycle can reach 95 to 97 %. (Israel)
