Automation of construction machinery
Any attempt to automate construction machinery, specifically a bulldozer and hydraulic shovel, should start with operations which are common to different types of work and which require a high degree of skill. For the bulldozer, we studied level control for regulating the blade position. Described are the configurations and operational principles of two systems of level control the mechanically guided system and thes lope control system Applied to an actual machine, thef ormer system gave a flatness of plus/minus 2,5 cm at a speed of 6 km/h, and the latter plus/minus 3 cm at 10km/h. Described are the configuration and operational principle of a digging profile control system using the analog computer. Applied to an actual hydraulic shovel. the control system gave a profile at an accuracy of plus/minus 3cm.
