Modelling of concrete bridge structures constructed by incremental launching
The incremental launching method is one of modern bridge construction methods, which can be economical for the construction of long, multi-span bridges when the falsework is made impossible due to height of bridge piers or terrain features. During construction these structures utilize different static systems, boundary conditions change, new structural members are assembled or cast, post-tensioning is applied and temporary support elements are removed. Variety of static systems and the effects of creep and shrinkage make the structural analysis complicated. To comply with EN 1992-2, Annex KK, general and incremental step-by-step method has to be used. The objective of the paper is to formulate the principles of the modelling of launched bridge structures. The numerical study is performed based on real-life example of a bridge using the models of different complexity. The results of the analyses are compared, and set of recommendations for the modelling is formulated.
